Buffet 10 Commandments
1. Thou shalt not wear tight fitting pants. Only pants with elastic, drawstring, or other adjustable waist feature are suitable attire for the full “Buffet Experience.”
2. Thou shalt not butt in line. Strategic food positioning takes time. We honour the time each Buffeter takes into placing each delicious item on their plate. Be patient, wait your turn and respect others’ personal space.
3. Come early! Having fresh food and smoked items means that it’s first come – first served! We open at 5pm on weekdays, but 4:30pm on Friday and weekends. That’s when we set out all of your favorites; fish tacos, BBQ ribs and smoked meats – but we can’t promise they’ll still be there at 8:00pm. If you have a craving from the Market Buffet, plan to come a little earlier than usual, especially on weekends.
4. Waste Not/Want Not. We encourage you to eat to your hollow leg’s content worth of buffet favorites, but we try to discourage wasting food whenever possible. So please, if you’re not sure you like an item, try a sample first or take smaller portions at one time: Remember, you can always come back for fourths!
5. Clean Plates Up – Dirty Plates Stay. Let us earn our tips! We love nothing more than taking a well-used, dirty plate from your table as you make your way to the buffet line for another round. Dirty plates belong at the table; clean plates belong at the buffet. Did we miss you? No problem- just flag down a server as you make your way back to the table.
6. Respect the Plastic Guard. We know…. Our food smells amazing, but let’s remember that the sneeze guards are there for a reason. No body parts (other than a hand reaching for a spoon) should be placed under the clear barrier for any reason.
7. Thou Shall Accompany Buffeters in Training Learning proper buffet etiquette takes time. Mini Buffeters need the guidance and support of a seasoned buffeter to develop into confident and considerate buffeters. So please accompany your kids ☺
8. A Serving Spoon Laid is a Serving Spoon Played. Once you’ve made contact with an item in the serving tray, it’s yours! No digging though and certainly no give-backs.
9. Dietary Preferences. Allergies? Dietary preferences? Our servers have all of the answers you need to make selections that fit into your dietary restrictions or preferences. Ask before you step in line and keep that buffet line moving!
10. Step out of Line to Sneeze. Feel a tickle in your nose, step out of line before you let it go! If the unexpected happens, be mindful of the guests and wash your hands immediately after to preserve the sanctity of our buffet.
Okay- we added one…
11. Gratitude goes a long way. ‘Thank you’ are two words that are often underused and appreciated more than you know. Our staff takes great pride in making your experience as great as it can possibly be, so when you notice our efforts, let us know! Who doesn’t like the warm and fuzzies?
Thank you!
The Market Buffet team ☺
