What many of you may not know is that our family designed and built the restaurant from the ground up. It took hundreds of hours of time, consideration and a dedicated team. In fact, the lumber that we used in the construction, especially around our dining room fireplace, was taken from a 100 year old barn that was on this lot before we took it down.
We spent a great deal of time deliberating over the concept of the restaurant and the type of food we wanted to offer. We looked at our location, demographics as well as the vast growth and competition that the region was in for in the next ten or twenty years … because we planned to be around for a long time!
The family buffet concept was very successful in the states and we wanted to bring it to Canada and change the landscape of buffets in Canada, as most of them are Asian based.
The “Market” concept is based on providing fresh food, an abundance of selection and choosing exactly what you want! Add in an amazing value at a price that can’t be beat – And the Market Buffet & Grill was born!
Nine years later, and my family is still involved: Mom on payroll and books, Dad assisting with inventory and supplies, Me with daily operations and my brother as part-owner and silent partner.
Our core focus has always been providing Affordable Value and Quality Food for Families in the Barrie area and I think we have continued to be successful and gained long term customer base because we haven’t taken our eyes off of that mission.
